2007-08
KAEOP Administrator of the Year
The Kansas Association of Educational Office Professionals
selected Mr. David South, Principal of Iola High
School as the Administrator of the year. Mr. South as been
in the educational field for 34 years and has served as Principal
at Iola High School for the last 9 years. He earned his Bachelors
and Masters Degrees from the University of Nebraska. Mr. South’s
leadership has been an asset that allows Office Professionals
to increase their effectiveness in the schools with his encouragement
to attend KAEOP/NAEOP Conferences and Educational Workshops.
Mr. South believes that KIDS COME FIRST, and he not only says
this, but projects this in all of his decisions in education.
2007-08
KAEOP Office Professional of the Year
Mrs. Debbie Opheim was selected as the KAEOP Office
Professional of the 2007-08 year. Debbie has been the Registrar
and Counseling Secretary for 20 years at Haysville Campus
High School. There are four counselors that rely on her as
a critical part of their Counseling Department. Debbie has
held numerous positions with KAEOP, which include State President,
President Elect, Membership Chair, 1st Vice President, Chaplain,
and currently holds the position of PSP Chair. Debbie has
also been very active in her local association, holding the
positions of President, Treasurer, and Secretary. Debbie is
a friend to all and always a reliable person to look to for
answers.

Guidelines for Nomination
1. One candidate may be nominated by each KAEOP affiliate
of the current affiliation year (July 1 – June 30).
2. DO NOT send scrapbooks, newspaper clippings, or any other
materials. All materials must be submitted by sponsoring association
at one time and no materials will be returned.
3. A $5.00 non-refundable fee payable to KAEOP must accompany
the nomination. Fees will be used to help defray expenses
for the winner to attend the Spring Conference.
4. Application material must be POSTMARKED by JANUARY 15.
5. The NAEOP Public Relations chairman will notify all candidates
and the sponsoring association immediately after the final
decision of the judges.
6. An inscribed plaque will be presented to the winner at
the Spring Conference.
7. Nominations that do not follow guidelines will not be submitted
to judges for consideration.
8. The Kansas Educational Administrator of the Year shall
be nominated by KAEOP as a candidate for the National Educational
Administrator of the Year award sponsored by the National
Association of Educational Office Professionals.
9. Candidate may only receive the Kansas Educational Administrator
of the Year award one time.
